The Warblers made the short trip for our first visit of the year to La Sella. The cool early start gave an eerie feel to a course now showing it’s winter coat but still offering hard, fast and tough to read greens, which made the course difficult to all but two of our members today.
Top score today and Division Two winner was that La Sella regular Clive Kay with a majestic 40pts. With the CBA playing at -2 Clive earned a two shot cut and will now be playing off a handicap of 17.1. Second place went to Sally Lewis 34pts (Hcp 25.4) with third spot going to Sally Marsden 31pts (Hcp 29.7) – well done Ladies.
Division One saw Chris Williamson make a winning return to form with an excellent 39pts (Hcp 9.2) and back into single figures, a great start to the New Year. Also making a welcome return to the podium was Robin Wheatley in second place with 32pts (Hcp 12.4) and in third spot, a society favourite, Big Tim Harrison with 31pts (Hcp 15.2)
Four nearest the pin prizes today were won by Chris Williamson on hole 5, Shaun O’Gorman on hole 8, Shaun also made the only two of the day to earn himself a coveted Orba Warbler Ball, Hole 13 was won by Steve Smith and Jorgen Mortensen picked up the prize on hole 15.
We welcomed six guests today Susan & Steve Harrison, David Bagulley, Shaun O’Gorman, Zdenka Brenoe and Henning Anderson.
Members are reminded of the AGM on January 28th at La Sella, 10.00 for a 10.30 start.
Congratulations this week to Howard Carter with 36pts and top golfer of the day.
