Presidents Cup (1)

This week the Warblers travelled to Sunny Alenda for the Presidents Cup a stableford competition Sponsored by of course our President Arthur Sullivan. There were 36 Members competing for this important event, with just the one division and 1 -6 places it was all to play for.

The Player and star of the day was Steve Cliffe (Hcap 12.4) with a great par breaking score of 39pts and winning the Cup, well done Steve. In second place initially with a good 38pts was the President himself but did not want to be involved with the prizes being that it was his event. So the Captain presented him with a sleeve of golf balls. With the order now changed in second place was Chris Hoare (Hcap 13.8)with 35 pts winning on countback from Roy Booth (Hcap 20.8) also with 35pts. Steve Smith (Hcap 4.7) was 4th with 34 pts and in 5th place was the Captain David knight (Hcap 8.1) with 33 pts. Roger Vicars (Hcap 20.5) claimed 6th on countback from the luckless Peter Gibson with 32pts.

The four nearest the pins were won by David Corcoran on holes 3 and 16, Tim Harrison on hole 5 and Fred Cooley on hole 13. There were three two's today achieved by Tim Harrison and Paddy Kenmore on the 5th and David Corcoran on the 16th.

Two single matches saw Robin Wheatley beat Malcolm Robinson 1 up and Glynn Braidley beat Derek Gray 2 & 1. The football card was Bury and won by Michael "let me get to the bar first"Morley. Well done to all our winners today.
