This week the warblers travelled to Bonalba to find the course in good condition even after an early morning thunderstorm so well done to the greenstaff. It was a lovely sunny day for the playing of our Committee Shield a Medal competition, Sponsored by the popular Fran and Tony Dickinson. There were 35 members and 3 guests Peter Carr, Keith Haskins and Tony Gray, they all received a coveted Warbler golf ball. There was only one division 1 - 6 places for this Major Trophy.
Star of the day and winning his first ever Society Competition was Robin Wheatley a stunning four under par net 68 well clear of the field well played Robin. Second with a net 72 was our man in form Roger " i don't believe it " Vicars , third and losing on count back with also 72 was David French. Fourth came our most respected Warbler Derek Gray with 73, fifth was Chris Williamson on 74 and losing on count back and in sixth place also with 74 was Steve Cliffe.
The lowest gross of the day prize went to Steve Smith with a fabulous 79 well done Steve. there were four nearest the pins on holes 4, 8, 11 and 14 and was won by Robin Wheatley, Steve Smith, John Allen and Glynn Braidley respectively. The two big hitters on the 9th for longest drive was Rosemary Edwards and Steve Smith. There were two two's on holes 4 and 11 both won by the man of the day Robin Wheatley.
There were two matches today, in the sinles match David French over came a tenacious Sheila Dindar 2 up. In the doubles match Robin Wheatley and Malcolm Robinson beat Chris Williamson and Sylvia Mortensen 3 & 2. A surprise winner of the football card was our loyal follower the lovely Wendy Sullivan with Derby . A big excessively happy well done to all our winners.
There was a popular award presented to Stafford Pemberton for 14 years of outstanding service to our Web-Site well done Stafford.
