One of the Warblers favoured courses was in its usual prime condition. To say the greens were fast was understatement several people had trouble reading them and the ball finishing further from the pin than it started especially on those holes were the pin was on the top of a slope on the green.
Some did not have this problem especially DB on hole 3, par 3 hole 173 metres which was chosen for nearest the pin. Taking his trusty 6 iron totally miss hitting the ball, actually hitting the ladies tee then not travelling for the next 50 meters less than a metre in the air then continuing on the ground and with gasp from his fellow golfer on the tee saw the ball finish less and an inch from the hole. Obviously, DB commented “that’s the way to do it” It would have taken a hole in one to beat that.
The remaining 21 players for the day just played normal golf
Division one was won by Michael Taylor with 32 points followed by Steve Cliffe with 31 points and Fred Cooley on 29 points
Division 2 was again a podium place and winner this week Sue Harrison with 32 pts receiving a rousing cheer of same old faces. Second and welcome back was Arthur Sullivan with 31 points and 3rd was Keith Robinson 30 pts.
Two nearest the pins were up for grabs Mark Gains on hole 16 and DB as we know on hole 3 DB also winning the Monti’s 2 comp
The football card was won by Steve Harrison.
